HOT FOR YOU: DJ Sammy Jo

Hot For You

a backroom disco for the family. On Sunday, February March we welcome downtown legend Sammy Jo to the disco for an all night set. Advance tickets available here. Our favorite time of day is night. WHO IS SAMMY JO? DJ Sammy Jo began his career almost 30 years ago in New York City at the infamous club MOTHER, owned by nightlife legends DJ Johnny Dynell and Chi Chi Valenti. Under Dynell's tutelage he honed his craft and became a resident dj at all the downtown bars and boites such as The Cock, The Slide, The Park, and even the Parkside Lounge, home of Hot For You. His style is a true melting pot of genres- disco, house, electro and new wave to name a few. He spent 10 years on the road opening for Scissor Sisters but NYC has always had his heart. You can hear him twice a week now on Andy's Kiki Lounge on SiriusXM, Mondays and Fridays at 9pm.

A psychosexual relationship between a rabbi and the man devoted to him goes off the rails in this explosive novel ~ MY LOVER, THE RABBI

Wayne Koestenbaum is a Distinguished Professor of English, French, and comparative literature at the CUNY Graduate Center.  His many books span poetry, essays, biography, and fiction.  The recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship, an American Academy of Arts and Letters Award in Literature, and a Whiting Award, he has also been a finalist for a National Book Critics Circle Award.  A widely shown painter, he released his first piano/vocal album, Lounge Act, in 2017. He lives in New York.

The first novel in more than twenty years from one of our most acclaimed stylists, Wayne Koestenbaum’s My Lover, the Rabbi is a sui generis spiral of lascivious thrills and uncanny hilarity, exposing in delirious detail the dangers—and spoils—of true love.

April 10 2026

Doors at 6pm/ Stores at 7pm

tickets $12

Sharers and listeners are all welcome! No story is required to come and enjoy the scene. To sustain our work, there is a $12 entry fee, but we turn no one away for a lack of funds.

On the fence about telling a story? We're here to help you develop it for primetime! Reach out to one of our gracious and beautiful hosts to brainstorm and refine. We'd love to get a glimpse of your inner worlds.

What’s the story theme?

RISE, SLOTHETTES, RISE! Arise from the dead, from the sheets, from your former self. Tell us about the comeback you never saw coming, the faith you lost or found, the altars you built (or burned), the season you chose to begin again. On this night, res-erection is about whatever has risen within you: desire, doubt, devotion, defiance. Show us your transformation at SHE IS RISEN.

What are SLOTH events?

LIVE IN NYC AT THE PARKSIDE LOUNGE

$15 Advance $20 Door

doors 7:00pm

7:30pm SLAMDINISTAS have a classic rock ‘n’ roll sound as powerful as their name. The five members of this Los Angeles band have spent their lives writing and performing, and those musical chops are blazingly apparent in their contemporary take on New York glitter trash, Detroit Street punk, and British Invasion rave-ups.

8:30pm PALMYRA DELRAN and the DOPPEL GANG "Palmyra is the Lucille Ball of rock & roll" - Steven Van Zandt

9:30pm THE CYNZ are a full-throttle rock band formed around the songwriting talents of poet CYNDI DAWSON (voc) and HENRY SEIZ (gtr/voc). The band has been called "the closest thing to the 1970's CBGB's you will get from a band that formed in 2011." Their songs are hard-rocking tales of heartbreak, survival, determination, redemption, and sometimes unbridled joy at break-neck speed!!!
